The Late Show is celebrating Friday the 13th, but it's not just any Friday the 13th. It's June 13th - Jason Voorhee's Birthday. Everyone's favorite machete wielding, hockey mask wearing serial killer is turning 79 this year and we're celebrating with a special showing of his first appearance in the original Friday the 13th from 1980 celebrating its 45th Anniversary!
Camp Crystal Lake used to be a great place to go to summer camp. That is until a young boy drowns in the lake because the councilors who were on duty snuck off to fool around. The next year two councilors are brutally murdered after being caught fooling around and the camp closed.
Now it's a little over two decades later and Steve Christy is going to re-open Camp Crystal Lake. He's hired a new group of young men and women to help get the camp ready and be the new councilors. For them it's all jokes and sexy fun times but little do they know that someone wants to keep the camp closed and they're willing to kill to make sure it stays that way. One by one the unsuspecting youths are picked off until the final confrontation.
The Original Friday the13th has spawned 11 sequels and helped launched Jason into the pop icon he is today. Not to mention countless imitations that came afterwards helping secure the 80's as the decade of the slasher!
